OC GFiber installer arrested for allegedly sending customer’s explicit video to himself

IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) — Police arrested a 37-year-old GFiber installer after he allegedly forwarded a customer’s private sexually explicit video to his own device during an internet installation. Investigators believe additional victims may exist.

According to the Irvine Police Department, a woman reported the incident on Sept. 9. She explained that GFiber, formerly Google Fiber, installed internet service in her apartment in early August. During the installation, the technician, who worked as a contractor with ITC Service Group Acquisition (now known as ASL Intergria) on behalf of GFiber, asked to borrow her cellphone to “test the Wi-Fi” signal.

The woman told investigators that after 10 to 15 minutes passed, she checked on the installer but couldn’t see what he was doing with her phone.

She later discovered that a sexually explicit video she had previously texted to her partner had also been sent from her phone to another device through iMessage, according to police. Though the message had been deleted from her phone, she found it on her linked iPad.

Using the phone number linked to the message, the woman traced the device to Logan Edward Gray-McCannon, of Hemet, the GFiber installer who had been in her home, police confirmed.

Police took Gray-McCannon into custody at his home on Sept. 11.
