According to investigators, the incident began when citizens reported threats McCray allegedly posted on social media. Detectives tracking her movements discovered that McCray had flown from Jacksonville to Miami International Airport on September 10 before hiring a private car service to Florida City.

Once in the area, McCray called the Florida City Police Department directly and reiterated her threats to a dispatcher, warning that she planned to shoot at the station. Officers quickly tracked her location to a nearby eatery. When police moved in to detain her, McCray resisted before officers took her into custody.

McCray previously worked as a sworn law enforcement officer with the Florida City Police Department until her employment ended in 2019.

Following the arrest, the department issued a statement addressing the incident: “Threats against any individual, including city officials and law enforcement personnel, are taken seriously. Anyone who engages in such conduct will be investigated and held accountable in accordance with the law. The safety of our community remains of the utmost importance to the Florida City Police Department.”

McCray remains in custody facing multiple felony counts.
