# Pasadena Police Open Fire After Assault Suspect Rams Two Patrol Vehicles

A Pasadena police officer fired shots Thursday night after an assault suspect reversed his vehicle into two patrol units during an attempted traffic stop, authorities said.

The incident occurred in a parking lot in the 200 block of Oakland Avenue, according to a news release issued Friday by the Pasadena Police Department. Officers had been trying to stop the suspect’s vehicle when the confrontation escalated.

Three people were injured and transported to a hospital, including one officer and the suspect. None of the injuries were life-threatening, and no one was struck by the gunfire, police said.

## How the Confrontation Unfolded

After the officer-involved shooting, the suspect stayed inside his vehicle and refused multiple commands to exit, according to the police statement. Officers eventually deployed a Pasadena Police K-9, and the suspect was taken into custody following what the department described as “continued efforts to gain his compliance.”

Aerial video from AIR7 showed an Audi SUV riddled with bullet holes and apparently involved in a collision with a pickup truck.

## Suspect Identification and Charges

The suspect was identified by police as 32-year-old Keith Trevon Anderson of Pasadena. A loaded handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle, according to authorities.

Anderson, who was a passenger in the car at the time of the arrest, and the officer were both treated for minor injuries, police said.

Anderson was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer, according to the news release. The passenger was arrested on an unrelated warrant also alleging assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).

An investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing. No additional details about the initial assault allegation that prompted the attempted stop have been released.
